Things to Do in Hatteras: Biking & Skating

Biking is one of the fun things to do in Hatteras. However, biking is better in some areas of Hatteras Island than others. The northern villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon have a paved bike path removed from the road, which makes bicycling safe and enjoyable. Biking in the villages of Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras is best on the back roads. If you’re cycling between the villages, there is a bike lane as part of the road. Make sure you and your bike are highly visible, as the cars and trucks are flying past at very high speeds. You can rent bikes or get your bikes repaired at a couple of places around the island.
