Hatteras Island arguably has the most densely populated arts scene on the Outer Banks. An art show or exhibit happens at least every month, with the frequency peaking in the summer. You can shop the works of these talented artists at the galleries and other Hatteras shops. Some artists have their own galleries and studios, but Hatteras shopping includes an experiential edge. Local artwork appears for sale at yoga studios, equipment repair shops and many of the coffee shops. Browse the wall art, prints, photography, ceramics, furnishings, textile pieces and more, much of which celebrates its surrounding environment by including influences distinct to Hatteras Island. If you browse about and then feel inspired to create your own artwork, there are shops with an assortment of arts and crafts supplies to enable your next project.
